OpenAI, the maker of ChatGPT, has announced a new version of its chatbot for businesses that uses artificial intelligence to generate text. The company said ChatGPT Enterprise offers better security and privacy, and has been adopted by some big names such as Carlyle, The Estée Lauder Companies and PwC, according to a blog post on Monday. OpenAI said it wants to create an AI assistant for work that can help with any task, that can be customised for each organisation, and that can protect the company data. “We believe AI can assist and elevate every aspect of our working lives and make teams more creative and productive,” the company said.

ChatGPT Enterprise also has some new features, such as unlimited faster access to GPT-4, the ability to process longer inputs, more data analysis tools and more options to personalise the chatbot, the company said. ChatGPT has faced some challenges from privacy experts who have accused it of collecting huge amounts of internet data, including personal and stolen data, without consent. The platform was banned in Italy earlier this year before the ban was lifted after OpenAI addressed the privacy issues raised by the Italian data-protection authority.

Some tech giants like Apple, Amazon and Samsung have also forbidden their employees from using ChatGPT at work because they are worried about the security of their company information. OpenAI is also dealing with a decline in public interest for ChatGPT, with the app’s traffic falling by almost 10 percent in June and July. A Pew survey released on Monday showed that more than two-thirds of Americans who knew about ChatGPT supported more regulation of the platform, while 52 percent said they were more worried than excited about the use of AI.
